At 17, Cheyenne became a certified Full-Spectrum Community Doula, driven by a deep-rooted passion for women’s health, advocacy, and empowerment. From a young age, she felt called to support women and teens through non-medical doula care offering education, emotional support, comfort measures, and guidance through experiences such as abortion care, bereavement, prenatal development, childbirth, postpartum recovery, mental health care, and lactation.
With over five years of hands-on experience and affiliations with a variety of hospitals and providers across New York City, Cheyenne remains committed to creating safe, informed, and compassionate spaces for every individual served. In addition to her work as a doula, she is a certified New York State EMT and an aspiring midwife.
Cheynne holds an Associate’s degree in Liberal Arts and Health Sciences and is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s in Allied Health Sciences. This educational background, combined with real-world experience, allows her to provide inclusive, evidence-based, and nonjudgmental care tailored to each person’s unique journey.

Christina, a 20-year-old first-time mother at 26 weeks’ gestation, came into CHOICES for a routine prenatal appointment. I introduced myself, smiled, and asked, “How are we feeling today — you and baby?” She described feeling overjoyed but constantly reminds herself about all to expect during childbirth: anxiety, excitement, negative stories from friends, satisfaction, confusion, and so much more. Wanting and expressing a strong desire for a natural birth in a hospital setting with minimal intervention, and navigating this new chapter of life at a young age, she always felt the need to have continuous support and reassurance throughout the process but was unsure about who to go to and where to start. (I’m happy to say here that her pregnancy continues to be healthy and low-risk under OBGYN care here at CHOICES.)
During prenatal visits, I explored Christina’s goals, fears, and expectations with her. Christina’s partner was included in these sessions so he could feel confident participating in hands-on comfort measures and understanding the beautiful changes her body continues to undergo. The goal is to have a safe and healthy delivery, with possible intermittent monitoring followed by immediate skin-to-skin contact after birth. During our prenatal birth plan session, we created a flexible birth preferences plan that included doula care with continuous support throughout labor by guiding her through relaxation breathing, counterpressure and hip squeezes, position changes to promote cervical dilation progress, affirmations, essential oils, and continuous partner involvement emphasizing emotional encouragement. Our sessions continue to consist of education on the stages of labor with a cervical dilation board, pain management options, birthing and peanut ball exposure, rebozo support, and prenatal yoga.
While currently awaiting labor at now 36 weeks, she feels confident to fully embrace labor mode and intends to ease her way into each wave of contractions that she will encounter. She will feel empowered, supported, and in control of her birth experience, while her partner will be graced with gratitude for learning how to be actively involved in the process of bringing their daughter from the womb to the world.
