Fast Track Emergency Medicaid

Choices Women’s Medical Center provides New York State Emergency Medicaid to cover pregnancy-related services including prenatal care and abortion. You can apply on-site and be approved the same day as your appointment.

For more information on qualifications and how to apply, please call 718-786-5000 and ask for the Medicaid Department. You will be asked to come to the clinic with the proper documents. You will find out immediately whether or not you qualify.

Lasts for 45 days and does not cover the cost of prescriptions.

Medicaid Accepted States

CHOICES accepts Medicaid from New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Delaware. Choices will ask for prior authorization, if required.

Family Planning Programs and Transportation

Family Planning Benefit Program (FPBP)

CHOICES is one of the only medical centers with on-site enrollment into the Family Planning Benefit Program (FPBP) that offers same-day application and same-day procedure. With proper documentation, FPBP provides FREE family planning and GYN visits, as well as FREE round trip Metro cards to Choices.

Eligibility for FPBP:

You are a female or male of childbearing age
You are a New York State resident
You are a U. S. citizen, national, Native American, have satisfactory immigration status, or hold a non-immigrant Temporary Visa
You meet certain income requirements (currently under 223% of the Federal Poverty Level)
You are not already enrolled in Medicaid
If you do not qualify for FPBP, you may qualify for The Family Planning Extension Program (FPEP)

Services that are covered:

All types of birth control
Emergency contraception (the "morning-after" or “Plan B” pill) and follow-up
GYN exams, including Pap tests
Pregnancy testing and counseling*
STD testing, counseling, and treatment*
HIV counseling and testing*
Colposcopy, Cryotherapy, and LEEP*

Family Planning Extension Program (FPEP)

CHOICES provides up to 26 months of free GYN services through our Family Planning Extension Program (FPEP) to residents of New York State when a pregnancy that was covered by Medicaid has ended and a woman does not qualify for FPBP and does not have any other insurance. FPEP is often automatic, regardless of immigration status.

Services covered under FPEP:

All types of birth control
Emergency contraception (the "morning-after" or “Plan B” pill) and follow-up
GYN exams, including Pap tests
Pregnancy testing and counseling*
STD testing, counseling, and treatment*
HIV counseling and testing*

Free Transportation and Metro Cards

Ask an appointment coordinator or the front desk about our free NYC Metro Card program for Medicaid and Managed Care Medicaid patients. You may qualify for free transportation to and from your appointment at CHOICES. Plans include: Affinity, Americhoice (UHC CM), Amerigroup, Fidelis Care, Healthplus, Healthfirst, Horizon Healthcare, Metroplus, and Wellcare. Please note, some insurances require authorization up to 3 days prior to your appointment. Call 718-786-5000 and ask to speak to one of our financial counselors today.

Alternative Funding

CHOICES accepts Medicaid, most healthcare insurances and debit cards, credit cards, and cash.

CHOICES is committed to helping ALL women obtain abortions, even those from states with restrictive abortion laws. Our Out-of-Town program is designed to encourage and support women from other states to come to our abortion clinic to carry out their reproductive decisions. We accept Medicaid from New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Delaware, and will help patients arrange affordable transportation and hotel accommodations. We are affiliated with Haven Coalition, a volunteer organization that provides overnight housing for abortion patients who need it and provides an escort for patients to and from abortion.

The New York Abortion Access Fund (NYAAF)

The New York Abortion Access Fund (NYAAF) supports people who are unable to pay fully for an abortion and live in or travel to New York State by providing financial assistance and connections to other resources.

Women’s Reproductive Rights Access Project (WRRAP)

Women’s Reproductive Rights Access Project (WRRAP) is a non-partisan, non-profit organization helping women gain access to safe, legal abortion services and emergency contraceptives. We work with pre-qualified, reputable reproductive health clinics across the U.S. on behalf of disadvantaged women in need.

National Network of Abortion Funds (NNAF)

National Network of Abortion Funds (NNAF) works with members to remove financial and logistical barriers to abortion access by centering people who have abortions and organizing at the intersections of racial, economic, and reproductive justice.

National Abortion Federation (NAF)

National Abortion Federation (NAF) operates the largest national, toll-free, multi-lingual Hotline for abortion referrals and financial assistance in the U.S. and Canada. NAF provides callers with accurate information, confidential consultation, options counseling, and referrals to providers of quality abortion care. The Hotline is free and offers services to everyone, regardless of your individual situation. As a National Abortion Federation (NAF) member clinic, patients may be eligible for financial assistance for abortion care at Choices.

Midwest Access Coalition (MAC)

Midwest Access Coalition (MAC) envisions a world in which all people have access to safe, free, legal abortions wherever they live. As a practical abortion fund, MAC helps people traveling to, from, and within the Midwest (Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin) access a safe, legal abortion with support in the following areas: travel coordination and costs, lodging, food, medicine, and emotional support.

The Brigid Alliance

The Brigid Alliance is an organization that provides logistical and financial support for travel and housing for patients seeking abortion:

- Transportation assistance – bus, plane, and train tickets or funds to cover gas, tolls, and parking.
- Housing assistance – hotel accommodations or referrals to local practical support.
- Additional expenses – reimbursement for taxis or referrals to local practical support.
- Referrals to local practical support organizations for: clinic escort services, emotional support, overnight housing, and other support.

Choices Institute of Women’s Health

CHOICES Institute of Women’s Health was founded by Merle Hoffman in 2015 to help address the global need for education and services relating to women’s and girls’ health, well-being, and ability to thrive and achieve their potential as full human beings. We develop, sponsor, and promote educational and training efforts, services, and programs in the U.S.A. and internationally.

National Abortion Federation (NAF)

National Abortion Federation (NAF) provides unbiased information about abortion, referrals to quality providers, and financial assistance. It’s free and offers services to everyone, regardless of their individual situation.

Lilith Fund

Lilith Fund provides direct financial and emotional support to Texans forced to travel to access abortions, and those who need reproductive care close to home.

Women’s Reproductive Rights Assistance Project (WRRAP)

Women’s Reproductive Rights Assistance Project (WRRAP) is the largest national, independent, nonprofit abortion fund. We provide urgently-needed financial assistance nationwide to individuals seeking abortion services or emergency contraception.

Texas Equal Access Fund (TEA Fund)

Texas Equal Access Fund (TEA Fund) provides funding to low-income people in the North and East regions of Texas who are seeking abortion and cannot afford it, while simultaneously working to end barriers to abortion access through community education and shifting the current culture to reproductive justice.

Women’s Emergency Network (WEN)

The Women's Emergency Network (WEN) is a Florida-based fund that helps people access abortion. Our vision is for every Floridian to be able to access abortion care, independent of income or circumstances.

NJ Abortion Access Fund (NJAAF)

The New Jersey Abortion Access Fund advances abortion access and bodily autonomy by funding abortions for people traveling to, from, and within New Jersey.

Vermont Access to Reproductive Freedom Fund

Vermont Access to Reproductive Freedom provides financial assistance to help Vermonters pay for abortion through grassroots fundraising, working to equalize access and promote economic justice.

Emergency Medical Assistance (EMA)

EMA's mission is to provide funding for individuals seeking abortion care that they cannot afford. We also assist with practical support costs and help patients navigate the logistics around seeking care. Though we are located in the Palm Beaches we serve people throughout Florida, meeting the needs of those most impacted by abortion bans.

Palmetto State Abortion Fund (PSAF)

Founded in December of 2021, Palmetto State Abortion Fund exists to provide financial, emotional, and logistical support to all South Carolinians seeking abortion services. Palmetto State Abortion Fund is dedicated to removing all barriers that may prevent or restrict abortion access. PSAF is a 100% volunteer-run, majority Black, majority woman-led abortion fund. To date we have helped 575+ abortion seekers from South Carolina and beyond.

Tampa Beach Abortion Fund (TBAF)

TBAFund removes financial and logistical barriers to abortion access. We specifically assist pregnant people seeking abortion in Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties. We also provide funding assistance and practical/travel support at numerous out-of-state clinics for Floridians over 6 weeks, due to unnecessary abortion restrictions in Florida.

The Red Tent Fund

The Red Tent Fund stands firm in its commitment to provide a safe, stigma-free space for anyone seeking abortion support. Guided by Jewish values and teachings that affirm the right to abortion, we provide affordable access to healthcare, even as barriers are raised throughout the United States.
